Deed poll + EU passport in old name- will this cause issues?

I've searched the forum but didn't get a clear answer so I was wondering if anyone could help me?

I want to change my first name via deed poll but I won't be able to amend my EU ID card and passport ( well I probably could but it would be a massive pain). Will it cause any issues if I apply for british citizenship (I will be able to do it in July 2015) using my passport in my old name + deed poll? In the meanwhile I am planning to amend my bank card, get a drivers license in a new name, change the name with my employer etc..

Could my application be refused?

Why don't you do it after you've naturalised?

I believe Deed Poll is for British citizens only. Even if it isn't then there's not much point of changing you name via DP as you won't be able to change it on your passport and IDs. If you want to use a different name you can just start using it like I do. UK's law allows it as long as you're not using your new name for fraudulent purposes. My first name on my passport and IDs is Kirils but on the work's payroll I'm Kiril. I use Kiril for invoicing clients for my freelance jobs and payments always reach me. HMRC never questioned my identity and my tax returns were always processed without a problem.

A lot of foreign nationals use the deed poll so it's accepted not only from British Citizens. Also - waiting more than a year is really not ideal - it would make my life easier to change my name now - I would use my new drivers license as an ID and have all the bank cards and payslips in my new name.

If I needed to travel abroad (I'm not really planning to until I apply for naturalization) I would put my old name on the boarding pass so the passport matches.

I've searched the forum and I know people used the deed poll here before naturalization with passports in their old name - I just don't know the outcome of it.

Also changing your name from Kirilis to Kiril is hardly a name change. I use a shortened version of my current name all the time and my legal name has a typo in a few organisations heh

I've been trying to get some advice for ages but the Citizen Advice Bureau had no clue so I'm trying to find an answer online. Any help would be appreciated! :)

It's fine. On the form fill in your new name and fill in your old name in the other names section. You will have to include the deed poll with your application and write an explanation of why you changed it on page 15. Also you will still (most probably) be known by your old name in your home country, you will have to follow whatever procedure is in place there to change your name. So potentially you could have passports in 2 different names.

Thanks for the great advice :D , I did some hard digging online and managed to find a document on the government website which pretty much confirms what you wrote:
