Hi there,

I have recently applied online for my son's first passport. He was born here and I am an EEA national living & working here for almost fifteen years now, so he is a British citizen. I have sent out all the relevant documentation (P60s, Birth certificate etc.) along with the signed application form and apparently everything is sitting in the queue at the Peterborough office, waiting to be examined by the EU Treaty team. After calling the office, I found out that it might take up to ... 10 weeks for the passport to be issued!!!

Can any of you, from personal experience, tell me how long it will realistically take them to issue the passport?

Thank you in advance

Hi Malik,

I doubt it as they are saying that the exact opposite is happening right now - due to the vast amount of EU citizens coming in UK, number of applications went up and waiting times increased.

I remember for my first son a couple of years back, it only took 10 days for the passport to be issued from Durham office, but not this time.

Just to clarify that I am not naturalised or anything. I am just EEA citizen living in UK. Is this the case with you too? And in what office has your application ended being processed?
