Child born in Canada, still a UK citizen?

Hi, I am planning to have my child in Canada as I'll be there in April next year around the time that the baby is due (I have dual citizenship). I just wanted to check that the baby will still be able to claim UK citizenship. I have UK citizenship through my mother (by descent) but my husband is a naturalised UK citizen (2009).

Will the baby still be able to apply for his/her passport?

Thanks for any advice!

Yes as your husband is British Otherwise than Descent so the baby will British by Descent as you are.

Thanks Char and would it be straight forward or would we have to apply for ILR first?

Apply for passport directly as BC by descent through your husband. You are not able to pass on your British Citizenship if the baby is born abroad as you are already BC by descent.
