Can I use NHI as self-sufficient person that pays CSI

Hi guys,
I am relatively new in the UK and I am still stying to figure out how the things work. I have EU passport, and in 5+1 year I would love to apply for citizenship. I will do that as self-sufficient person. In order to do that I understood that I need to start paying comprehensive sickness insurance (which I will start paying this week). My question is: CSI covers only things that you didn't have in last 5 years for first 2 years of policy- so what happens with things that I had problems with before- for example- gynecological problems(I don't have problems with it any more, but what if I would get it again)- who pays for that? Should I pay for that from my pocket, or can I use NHI? If I use NHI will that prevent me from getting citizenship? Also what about small illness-like if I catch a cold- can I go for check up at GP and use NHI (as that is not covered by CSI)?
So much as I understood health care is free in UK. As I am not employed I don't need pay for NHI so much as I understood. Am I right? And I do understand that I can use it on general. But what if I want to apply for citizenship- can I use it (NHI)?
If I can -what I then don't understand why would someone use CSI at all- because if we want to use CSI we need to pay excess £ 100.
I am quite sure that I have missunderstood something. Please help me with my confusion, I am trying to do everything correct so I would have option to apply for citizenship.
