Child Born in India to British Parents - Visa

Post by sojan » Fri Jan 16, 2015 10:53 am

Guys,
After reading through various threads and time-delay happening for applying British Passport for child (born Overseas), can you please confirm if this is a valid option

- Child born to Naturalised British Parents (Had Delivery in India)
- Apply Indian Passport
- Apply "Child Visitor Visa" for UK (https://www.gov.uk/child-visit-visa/eligibility)
- Reach UK and then apply for British Passport
- Later apply for OCI

Is this a valid option?
THanks in advance.

We are in the same dilemma for our recently born daughter in India (both parents naturalised British)
Vinny has been helpful too with my previous posts on this topic.

I have called the chennai deputy high commission who confirmed two options
1. Emergency Travel Document (need to be a real emergency like medical reason or death in the family etc)
2. Application for the First Child British Passport from Overseas (takes at least 16 weeks but longer in many cases)

We are planning to go for the 2nd option as my wife can stay at her parents during this time and I already came back to UK to resume my work.

Let me know what you guys are planning ahead on this issue.

Regards
