The New Overstayed Law

Hi guys
please a friend of mine needs a help. He arrived in London 2002 via Dover with someone documents luckily for him got away with it till he got married with EE in 2007 and got his 5 year after his PR he applied for BC June 2014, he is scared of the new Overstayed law. The question is would this new law affect to get his BC? PLEASE HELP

You should wait until 2017 to send his application....

In circumstances where an applicant entered the UK illegally, an application for
citizenship should normally be refused for a period of 10 years from the date of entry, if
it is known. If it is not known, the period of 10 years starts from the date on which the
person first brought themselves to or came to the attention of the Home Office.

So has he already applied in June?

Personally I think its going to be a discretionary decision by Case Worker, however on PR since past five years might just play in his hands, but now he just has to wait and see.

Oh, so he has already applied...

In that case I agree with fwd079 the case worker will have to use his discretion.

Has he mentioned that on his application?

thanks for your reply no he did not mention it in his application because he applied before the new law. he has been so worried since the new law came out in December.
