Hello,

I have finished my paperwork and have been a British citizen for a month, my question is, I Have a son who is 20 years old that currently studies abroad, can he apply for British citizenship based on his father and mother became citizens by naturalisation?

Thank you for all the help.

Note: I have not found anything similar on the website therefore have attempted to as the question, I will continue to search, and if I find something relevant that answers my question I will withdraw it.

Thank you.

Where (country) was he born? Has he lived in the UK over the 20 year period?

Hello, thanks for your reply,

he was born in libya, he lived in the UK

from 2000 to 2008 then went back to libya
from 2012 to 2013 then he went back to libya again.

As he was not born in the UK, I don't believe he can apply to be registered or naturalisation through his parents BC status. You say he was living in the UK between 2000 and 2008, a 8 year period, what was his immigration status then, may be there is an avenue for BC, if he obtained ILR (though I'm not entirely sure, if that status would still hold, as he has been out of the country for a number of years now) at the time. Others may be able to comment further.

As cs95tdg asked, does he hold an ILR?

If not, what sort of visa does he has?
