Dear All

Please I need an urgent answer. I had my Citizenship ceremony today, received the certificate too. My wife has got her Check-in service appointment tomorrow to apply for her Naturalisation and sending out her documents via 3 years rule. Till moments ago, I was under impression that the moment I become citizen, she can apply via this rule. We have been married for 12 years and she came here with me as Tier 1 Partner visa January 2009.Then she had to leave the country for 2 years that is why she could apply via 5 years rule.We both received ILR Visas December 2013. Now I am calling Home Office enquiry line, the gentleman handling the call didn’t look like he is 100% sure. I called 0200 123 2253 and they mentioned that if at July 2012 she was not married to a British Citizen then she has to want for 5 years. PLEASE respond me urgently as We have already paid for check-in service and it is booked for tomorrow

Thanks all

Your date of marriage is irrelevant.

3 years of residence & ILR (and being married to BC). That's all.
