Dear All

Please help me about English Requirement for Naturalisation. My wife took a Life in The UK Test in March 2013 where in Paragraph one clearly said:
"...Your success at this test also demonstrates that your level competence in English meets the required standard for naturalisation or ILR. No further proof of this is needed. We shall notify the Home Office of this result electronically but please also submit this letter to them with your application form and fee...."
My question is: Does my wife still need to do B1 test or not? she only had A1 back in 2011. She already had her ILR in 2013 and I am British Citizen. Thanks for your help.

Yes, she now needs B1 level English in addition to a pass in the Life in the UK test.
Here's the new list of UKVI approved test centres and accepted language tests.

Thanks Casa

So the Life in the UK test is still valid but has to be with the additional document which is B1, is that right? Thanks again.

Dear All

We live in Southampton so does it mean she has to go to Portsmouth to take an exam for B1? or can she do it in one of the English school?

Correct. She can go to any test centre as long as it's on the UKVI approved list
