Dual Citizenship?

Can I apply for dual Citizenship? My mother was born in Scotland in 1961 came to the states in 1968. She never got her US citizenship so she's still a UK citizen, right? I was born 1988 and am now 27. My father was born in the US. So is it possible for me to get dual citizenship?

Both the UK and the US allow dual citizenship.

Were you parents married at the time of your birth or any point thereafter?

I am assuming you were born in the USA??

I think you might be British by Descent, which would mean you could apply directly for a passport. Perhaps one of the other mods could confirm.

Although I am not a mod, I concur with CR001. Apply for your passport from the US here.

Be aware that as you are a British citizen by descent, your children will only be British if they are born in the UK.
