Hi everyone,
so i applied for british citizenship on November2014 as i have been married to EEA civil partner for over 5 years.i didn't apply for PR as i been married for 5 years + 1 year still together so no need for PR.
HO wants evidence of residency and cohabitation with my spouse for the past 5 years.

QUESTION ONE -HOW MUCH EVIDENCE IS ENOUGH? -we have individual and joint bank statements, joint council tax bill, a healthy amount of individual mail, some photographs etc. what are the documents they look for the most? also we have travelled together quite a bit so would tickets or proof of purchase for tickets count?
What about letters from friends? how many?
QUESTION TWO-WHY IS HOME OFFICE ASKING FOR MY ESOL CERTIFICATE?- i have a postgraduate degree -does this count? also have passed life in uk test so this part seems very unclear?

Q1) I think proof of residency is separate from proof of cohabitation.
Are you sure HO now wants to see 5 years proof of both cohabitation & residency?
(how have they worded their request?)

For residency form AN states the following can be used:

Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating presence in UK

The AN form is not so clear on what is required for proof of cohabitation.

The associated guidance notes are not very specific either, (they don't seem to specify that proof of cohabitation is required):

Anyway, on the basis of denying HO any 'wriggle room', official letters in joint names, joint bank statements, evidence of voter registration at same address would seem appropriate.
If possible, provide a selection of these for each year over the 5 year period.
(Everything else you mentioned may help but personal letters will probably not be given the same weight).

Q2) As to proof of English, does HO think you have omitted to submit an ESOL certificate?
which part of the application form did you fill in?
Where was your place of study (which country)?
Was your post-grad degree studied in English?
Did you state you have a degree & provide your degree certificate or other evidence?

With regards to residency and cohabitation how much is enough?and as for the esol certificate I wasn't asked to mention or fill in anywhere in the application with regards to my qualifications s it was about my civil partner excercising treaty rights in uk. I applied straight for British citizenship without PR.
I studied at university of Westminster , will my postgraduate degree will be enough?
Any particular documents are more important than others? Any other members have received similar letters to mine ? Thanks for you help

The letter quotes examples of what they require to see for residency/cohabitation.
I suppose at least a couple of letters/documents per year.
If you have more send more in case some are not deemed satisfactory.

I'm confused about your proof of English.
On form AN there is a distinct section all about KOLL.
You must have filled in some part of it (?)

As per the guidelines, an English degree studied in UK in English is perfectly adequate.
It is unclear how that was overlooked in the original application but it should be straightforward for you to supply that evidence that HO now asks to see.
