I have been working in a IT company and planning to get my colleague references (both are British).
Can I get the references from them ?

Are one of them a professional on the list of acceptable professional referees?

Accepted Referee List (Click)

Is the other over 25 years of age?

Thank you very much CR001 for your reply.
They are Engineers (with professional qualifications) according to the list. Am I right?

One referral may be from the above list.
Should British citizenship also be in the list for an another referral?

Can following mixture of colleagues can meet the criteria of referee if I have to select out of them 2:

1st: Newly naturalized and security guard (above 25).
2nd: British national & software engineer (above 25).
3rd: British national & college principal
4th: British national & school teacher
5th: British national cab driver
6th: GP

As 'professional' referee: #3 OR #4; maybe #2
#6 if you can persuade him/her (not all GPs play ball)

As second referee: any of the above you didn't choose for prof referee (assuming above age 25).

Usual other conditions apply: not a relative; not a HO employee; (not your legal representative) & no unexpired criminal records.

If I have only available referees no#1&2 then can #1&2 meet requirements.

Is person #2 a member of a professional body such
as BCS?

If so all good.

Anyway if HO object to a particular referee they will simply write & request another.

What is BCS and in guidelines we never hear about it. The list of referee allows engineer so under such sense can software engineer will be alright?
Moreover, aren't a person without British passport but newly naturalized is considered British national as indicated in referee #1 for the purpose of referee? Can #1 referee be alright too??

Have you researched accepted list of professionals?
BCS is clearly mentioned as a professional body.
See https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ersons.pdf

A professional ref is not asked to hold a passport.
A non-professional ref is expected to hold a British passport & be over 25.

If HO objects to a referee they will simply write & ask for another.

Let's keep things easier. Can two British national, one as over 25 and second doing professional job will fulfill the referee criteria or two referee cannot be British and either of them must be non-British??
