Applying via MN1 and flying outside UK

Good Morning all,

Scenario is as follows:

1. Father Status: ILR - September 2015
2. Mother Status: ILR - September 2015
3. Son: Both on 31-12-2013 in UK when both parents were on Tier 1 General. He has Tier 1 General Dependent Visa valid till May 2017.
4. Travel Plans: We have travel plans in December 2015 to fly outside UK.

AFAIK, if we don't apply for MN1, our son can fly with us on his existing visa i.e. Tier 1 General Dependent with parents having ILR. Please correct me If I am wrong.

Now, if we apply for his MN1 this month or in October through NCS (so that we get his passport and BRP card back),
1. Is his Tier 1 General Dependent still valid ?
2. Assuming 1 is true, can he travel in December despite his application under progress for MN1?

Your response is highly appreciated.

Regards,

1. Technically, his dependant leave should still be valid until he's granted citizenship.
2. It should be okay to travel.
