Do we need to send BRP with application - via NCS

Hi,

We are applying for my wife's British citizenship via NCS (through local council) in a few weeks. She currently holds ILR on a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) that was issued to her last year when she got her ILR status.

Looking through the application form (FORM AN), it seems like that the current BRP needs to be sent with the application. However my wife needs to travel with me for holidays in November and then again in December to attend a wedding.

Has anybody been in a similar situation and is there a way to avoid sending the BRP with the application.

Thanks in advance.

hiya, my experience/understanding is when applying through NCS they take copies of all supporting documents required, so that you can keep your originals.

NCS takes copies of everything ie passport, BRP, supporting documentation. You submit ORIGINAL Life in the UK test certificate. You keep the BRP card, Ive kept mind for sentimental reasons.

When you receive a follow up letter for biometrics, this has to be done within a certain timeframe, which looks like it may be within your travelling timeframe so be mindful of that.

For your peace of mind, I would suggest that your wife submits the BC application AFTER your holidays, to avoid potential stress. Thats what I would do.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. This is useful. We are on a very short holiday in November (a long weekend) and will be back in the UK for a month before she travels again for the wedding and hoping by that time the Biometrics stage will be done.
