question about the MN1 form

Hi everyone;

I had a five-year leave to remain visa. My son was born in 2013 and he got an inline status. Our visa expired in September 2015 and I applied for settlement visa for both of us.

I've got two questions:
1. Once we have received our BRP cards, do I need to wait 12 month to register my son as a British Citizen? Because I need to wait 12 months from the date of issue of my "Indefinite Leave To Remain" to apply for naturalisation.

2. How long does the Settlement Application process take? I've sent the SET(P) form on September 1st 2015 and did the biometric enrolment on September 10th 2015 at the post office.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Are you applying for Settlement under one of the following?:
• A person who was granted five years refugee leave.
• A person who was granted five years leave on humanitarian protection grounds.

What do you mean by 'an inline status'?

Thanks for replying;

I was granted five years refugee status in 2010; my son was born in London, in March 2013 and his status was in line with my own refugee status. Our visas expired on the same date(SEP 30 2015).

If born in UK you can register minor as British as soon as one parent is settled (or naturalised).
So as soon as you have ILR.

Child is entitled to register under section 1(3) of BNA; form MN1.

Once registered apply for child's passport as a separate step.
