Can a P60 from a Job Centre affect the application?

I am Italian and I have lived in the UK for 17 years (with a long spell - 7 months - away 13 years ago). I applied for British citizenship on 3 June 2015 via the NCS service in Hammersmith, London. I provided all documents as requested (six P60s, Life in the UK test, form detailing all my trips outside the UK, which fell within needed time frame, my Cambridge Proficiency in English from 2005). On 14 June the Home Office acknowledged receipt of all documents. I also went to a post office on 16 June for my Biommetric Enrolment.

I haven't received any news as yet. Over the past two months I contacted the Home Office twice via email to no avail.

When I went through the NCS I was told that all my documents were in very good order and that the Home Office might just only query (if deemed necessary) with regard to a P60 from 6 years ago (2009-2010), because It was from the job centre (I was on JSA for 2 months or so). I am starting to worry that that may be an issue, because at the NCS they said it would have been better to provide (along with the application) a statement from HMRC detailing my income for 2009-2010 so as to make sure the Home Office would understand that I was on JSA only for a few weeks. (My P60 from the Job Centre did have details of earnings) Nevertheless, I was reassured (by the NCS's clerk) that the Home Office would not reject my application based on that and that all they could do is to ask for more information about that year.

Furthermore I sent the HO (along with the application through the NCS) a letter from the HMRC stating that I paid 17 years of pension and insurance contributions. As per the good character requirements, I have never had any conviction anywhere in my life. My references are from two dear old British friends, both professionals.

Nobody has got in touch with me as yet. It has been 5 months and I am (slightly) worried.

My questions:

- Could that P60 (2009-2010) from the Job Centre be an issue?
- Would they have contacted me by now as regards that year to ask for information and if all info provided is ok, why is it taking so long?
- Does it make sense to ask the HMRC for a statement of earnings from that year and send it to the HO now or is it too late?
- Are there any cases that take this long to be considered? (I checked your board and also with friends and it usually takes three months for naturalisation to go through, although I know it can officially take up to six months or more)
- When I tried to phone them two months ago a voice mail stated that queries regarding applications not older than 6 months are not to be discussed.

What can I do? Just wait? Any opinion with regard to the aforementioned?

I have lived in the UK since 1998. I paid contributions every year, integrated with the culture and ways of living, know hundreds of people, I even recently qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language with top marks - CELTA, grade A (just saying for the sake of reiterating my being fully integrated into British life).

If they turn my application down, I will be lost for words, especially when considering certain applications that go though.

Apologies for venting my frustration so vehemently, which is indeed not very British of me.

Many thanks

The HO certainly works in mysterious & unpredictable ways.

If you subscribe to the forum's timeline threads you will see a number of applications take 6 months or more & some applications do seem to overtake others.
So you may be experiencing 'normal service'.
(My wife's straightforward case took over 4 months so it was quicker than some but definitely took more than 3 months; during that time we heard not one peep out of HO by letter nor by any other means).

Probably all you can do just now is sit tight;
when you clock up your 6 months time-served you can take the website at its word & follow up,
