I want to apply BC for my son using MN1
should the referre need to know the parents for the last 3 years?
if this is the requirement then can someone please point me where can i find this on the MN1 application/guide
Because we have been moving different cities due to work reasons so there is no way someone knowing me for the last 3 years. Even if someone knw me since we entered UK I dont think they would be happy to sign as a refere as i was not in contact with them regularly.
also, I got referee 2 from a neightbour who knows my kid and us for the last 9 months and i am trying to get referee1 from pediatrician who use to see my son when is was 1 year, my son is now 25 months. are these references will be accepted?
Thanks

It needs to be someone who is engaged with the baby (health visitor, nurse, teacher). Doesn't have to know parents for 3 years.

thanks for the reply CR001
one of the OISC immigration adviser who I approached to process this application told me that the signatures I am trying to get (9 months BC neighbour and doctor who saw my son for a year) are not applicable and they must have known us for three years. this is really confusing

If you are applying they need to know you. For children born in the UK (assuming child was), it is not the case.

HO guidance all about referees, see paragraph 6.3.7.8 for minors:

MN1 application

Hi,
One of the required documents for MN1 application is parents BRP and passport copies. My questions are
1. Does the passport photo copies need to include both old and new passport? or just the new passport? I haven't travelled abroad in the last 4 years so no entries in the new passport.
2. Does the photocopies need to be B&W or colour?
3. I read somewhere that passport and BRP photocopies need to be certified, does it mean we just signing the photocopies or does it require a professional to attest/sign them?
4. Under section 8, page 30, does it has to signed by both parents? if one parent sign is enough then does it has to be mine or my husband's?
5. I think section 4 is for children above 10 years, my kid is 2 years so i do not need to fill in this, can someone confirm this please?
thanks for the help.

1 - 3)
Suggest apply via NCS;
as well as sanity-checking the application they will sort out all the copies & return original documents (including passports) to you.
If applying yourself, there's no stipulation in the MN1 guidance document about either the colour of copies nor about certifying the copies.
4) The preference is both parents sign.
If one parent cannot or will not sign some explanation will be required.
If only one parent will sign it should be the main carer or custodian of the child.
See section 7 of HO guidance on this important matter; (page 26+):
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ations.pdf
5) Confirmed;
children under 10 years of age are all assumed to be little angels.

thanks noajthan for the reply.
another question,
the application asks for children's passport details, my kid has no passport. We did not apply for one as we were told we can register him through MN1 once we get the ILR.
thanks

It's a generic form - if child has no other passport simply leave blank.

Hi there,
I was referring to section 8 not 7. Yes section 7 has spaces for both mother and father of the child but section 8 has only one space and even in the guidance its not clear whether it should be signed by both or just one is enough.
for application payment, i just need to fill in the last page of the following pdf and include with the application?
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _07_21.pdf
and the form needs to be posted to the following address?
Department 1 UKVI The Capital New Hall Place Liverpool L39PP
sorry just want to be 100% sure that i am doing it right.
thanks in advance

Hello Babygirl!
Say honestly, have you read the guidance at all???
I never seen these type of silly questions in this forum.
Have you ever applied for any UK visas for you or your family? Which one used color/black and white copies??
If you are in doubt send both old and new passport copies, what is the actual question here??
Read the guidance first carefully, you can find everything you need (of course for your silly questions only UKVI people can answer). Don't waste other members time..

Only one parent needs to sign section 8.
Payment form is correct.
Address to post to is correct. Why do you not consider applying using NCS at the council. they copy all your documents and you will get to keep all your original documents and they check your form (small fee applies) and they send it to HO.

A bit inappropriate skreddy. The point of the forum is to help people, even with silly questions and if you have no useful advice to offer, please rather don't respond if you find posts 'silly'.

Good questions - better safe than sorry after all.
I misunderstood which section you meant.
Yes, just 1 parent to sign in Section 8; (either parent,as you wish).
As has been recommended, NCS is a useful sanity-checking service.
If you use NCS do still keep your own copy of the application form (& payment form) for your records.
NCS copies your documents but won't (usually) copy the forms for you.
If you don't use NCS, keep copies of the forms anyway; also keep copies/scans of all the original documents you submit.
In that case (direct application), also suggest enclosing a pre-paid, self-addressed
Special Delivery reply envelope for the safe return of your valuable docs from HO.
Good luck.
