we as a family 2 adults 2 children got ilr on 26th may 2015. we are eligible for naturalisation next year on or after 26th may 2016. but i want to know how to apply for my children under 18 as they r not born in uk. when can i apply for my children at earliest n how. we all got ilr at the same time. i was reading the website n it said
"Where one or both parents are applying for British citizenship they may apply for one or more children who are not automatically British at birth (see “Automatic acquisition of British citizenship” above) to be registered as British citizens as part of a “family application”. Children in this category will be considered at the Home Secretary’s discretion and will usually be registered only if both the parents are granted or already hold British citizenship, or if one parent holds British citizenship and the other is settled in the UK.""
im v confused. on one side they are saying that we can apply for child registration but another time saying one shoukd hold british citizenship..anyone olz throw a light on this. wats the procedure to apply n wen can i apply n how long their registration n passport will take?

You can apply for your children when you apply. They do not qualify to apply any sooner than that.

Suggest start with forum FAQs - see minor's section:
british-citizenship/citizenship-faqs-co ... 95747.html

On successful registration of a child you may choose to apply for their British passport afterwards; its a separate process - passport application form available from Post Office.

You can track timelines in relevant forum thread - usually allow 'several months' for registration; then allow several weeks for passport.

Children can apply if one or both parents are applying, given they have ILR at the time of application if born abroad.
