Status:
Married to a BC
Arrived in UK May 2012
Applied for ILR in June 2014
Received BRP in November 2014

Now Applying for Naturalisation as a British Citizen.

Still Married.

My problem here with my application is with the " Qualified Referee "

It said the Person should know you " personally " for 3 years. My first employer is a Teacher, so I said I would use him as I have known him for 3 years ( September 2012 ) ... I only worked for him from September 2012 - February 2013 but we still kept contact. He called the Home Office & they told him that he's not qualified to be my referee as he hasn't known me in a professional capacity for 2 years.
I'm at a lost as to who I can use.

I signed up at my GP in 2013 & as we are in 2015 that not " 3 years " ... Can I still use my GP ?

I have mates that are on the professional list ( Qualified Engineer & HR Manager ) that I have known for 3 years. CAN I USE THEM ? I'm really confused. Help please.

Hi there

Yes you can use the qualified Engineer and HR Manager who you know for 3 years. That is acceptable

Just wondering how home office verifies if somebody has known you from three years or not

They have no way of verifying unless they call the referee and check with the person. The only catch here is that the applicant should have resided in the UK for atleast 3 years

They generally don't contact the referees...it's just a formality.

My husband put in a reference he known for just over 3 years ...literally like 2/3 days over! he was approved recently
