Debt Management Plan and British Citizenship

Post by ssidd » Fri Feb 27, 2015 4:52 pm

Hello,

My citizenship is due in June 2015 but due to financial circumstances, I am going to debt management plan to pay off ny credit card debts. Does this affect my nationality application?

I found this on Gov.Uk website in Annex D,

6.2 Debt
The decision maker will not normally refuse an application simply because the
person is in debt, especially if loan repayments have been made as agreed or if
acceptable efforts are being made to pay off accumulated debts.
However, where a person deliberately and recklessly builds up debts and there is no
evidence of a serious intention to pay them off, the decision maker will normally refuse
the application.

Kindly comment on it.

Many thanks
Sidd

The size of the debt could matter but having repayment plans is something HO favorably looks at.
I am sometimes wrong.

No. You need to complete the full 12 months before applying.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Should I need to attach all the docs again, i.e. salary slips, IELTS, LIUK, proof of addresses?

Many thanks

No, please see Page 29 of Form AN in this link for a list of supporting documents required. Good luck.

Also, have you considered using Nationality Checking Service?

Very unfortunate as passport is used to help prove you meet residency & absence requirements as well as ID.
It also helps prove you were in UK 5 years before date of application.

Suggest add note in additional info section of form to explain this matter.

Be prepared to provide alternate evidence now.

Did you report to the police and get a police ref when u lost your passport? If you did then u need attach that with your application and maybe write a cover letter or something of that nature.

There are several recent discussions around this topic. You will probably find the following one helpful.

Do verify if your qualification is listed under https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ebsite.pdf

Do you see "Cambridge English Language Assessments" written on your IELTS certificate anywhere?

TIER 1 dependant, ILR and Naturalization

Post by ssidd » Sun Dec 20, 2015 10:08 pm

Hello,

Me and my wife got ILR last year on the basis of 5 year TIER 1 (General) Visa. She joined me as TIER 1 dependant in 2009. Due to traffic conviction I am unable to apply for Naturalization till end of next year.

Can my wife apply for Naturalization before me or she need to wait till I apply Naturalization?

Please guide me.

She may apply independently if she satisfies the standard requirements.
