Good character - Section 6.2 Debt
The decision maker will not normally refuse an application simply because the person is in debt, especially if loan repayments have been made as agreed or if acceptable efforts are being made to pay off accumulated debts.
However, where a person deliberately and recklessly builds up debts and there is no evidence of a serious intention to pay them off, the decision maker will normally refuse the application.

Please post this question, which has nothing to do with your citizenship application, in the General Immigration sub forum or Student Visa sub forum. Or even better, ask your brother to register and ask his own questions and list his immigration history.

Hi
Am really confused, I want to apply for naturalisation as a British citizen but I am worried I might not meet the "good character " requirements. I have 2 offences on my record,
- driving without insurance
- driving without a full driving licence.
All these happened in 2014, it's not that am a careless and bad person but I was going through a rough time in my life. I had just separated from my husband and I was solely looking after 3 small kids. Before he left, he said I should keep the car and that he will be paying insurance, for the sake of the kids. ( picking and dropping kids to school). On that fateful day when the police stopped me, I didn't know that the direct debit for the insurance was councelled, when I called him, he said he wasn't aware. Anyway to cut the long story short, I carried the blame, went to court and I was given a fine and 6 points were taken from my provisional.
I now have a full driving licence and am responsible for paying insurance for my car. I want to apply for naturalization but am worried my application might be declined and the fee is non refundable. Please advise.
The offences will come of my record in 2018.

You will have to declare it and it will be at the Secretary of State's discretion whether the offences are disregarded. No one can give you a guarantee.

You should be OK as long as you declare it.
