Date of Divorce unknown for AN Form Completion

Hi all
My husband and I are applying for our British Citizenship. We were granted ILR in 2011.

On the AN form, it asks for previous marriages and dates of divorce. I have been married twice before but do not know the day and month of the divorce, just the years.

If I only put in the year of divorce and explain that I no longer have the paperwork, would they accept that or would it be grounds for refusal.

To get the dates would mean travelling to Cape Town, South Africa and physically going into the court house and searching through all their ledgers to find the date which is not something I want to do if at all possible.

Year should be fine.

Assuming you are South African, have you made the necessary 2 applications to keep your South African citizenship (if you want to)? If you haven't, you will lose your SA citizenship once BC is granted/approved.

Thank you very much. We are not going to apply to retain South African Citizenship but will apply for permanent residence on the grounds of birth once we have our British passport.

My Mom has a SA permanent residence card and British Citizenship (since about 1980 ish) and has never had a problem :D

I have done exactly that. They will cancel your passport and ID book and issue you with a letter on the loss of your SA citizenship. You don't have to apply for permanent residency, it is automatic if you were born in SA and the letter will state this and that you are permitted to travel in and out of SA on your British passport.
