Passport Application

Dear Friends,

Thanks to the help from this forum - I now have the successful naturalisation application processed.

I did my citizenship ceremony last week and have couple of questions on the passport application

1. Online Applications vs Passport check and send?
- Which one would be preferable - Register office at the council suggested online while the forum seem to be backing the check and send service.

2. Child naming format
- My wife is on Indian passport with ILR and probably would stay in that status for some more time (~1 year). What are the child "second naming" formats in order to ensure smoother travel / transit ...in case my wife and "child" (unborn) are traveling without my assistance / presence.

Many thanks

What do you mean 'second naming'? You name the child, eg John Peter Smith, what exactly is your question about.

oops!! - I am not sure how i ended up typing that!!

2. Child naming format
- My wife is on Indian passport with ILR and probably would stay in that status for some more time (~1 year). This is because she is planning to be in India.
- What are the child "second name"/"family name" formats. My wife's Indian passport does not have my name.
- Register office at the council did mention about formats with "first name, second name" which usually causes confusion during travel.

Ultimately, This is in order to ensure smoother travel / transit ...in case my wife and "child" (unborn) are traveling without my assistance / presence.

HO will only issue documents in the name as they are listed in the childs passport or birth certificate.

Thanks!

I am reading this as "no specific rules" for naming the child ( i know this is a very silly question ) ...but can cause a lot of unknown , unnecessary troubles ( unless, i am really acting paranoid rt now!!)

As far as first question is concerned - please can someone suggest the fastest , safest route?

I prefer(ed) online as the application can be followed online. You see when they have received it and processing and you have your reference number online as well - so you can't lose it.

One thing in mind - and I made the mistake by not knowing - when you make the application online, it gives you the link to download a copy in PDF format - that options goes away once the status changes to 'received'.

So if you want to keep a copy yourself - print it twice or photocopy it and don't rely on the online copy.
