Relinquishing UK citizenship

Hi, new here, if this is the wrong place, please move/delete...
I'm in Norway, and have been granted Norwegian citizenship, conditional upon my relinquishing UK citizenship. I've found out how, and where, but what I'd like to know is how long does this process take? I have to send my UK passport to Liverpool, along with a pile of paperwork and £272
but no-one there can tell me how long it takes. therefore how long I'll be without a passport. Travelling in about 12 weeks...
