Hello guys,
I'm due to apply for naturalisation and passport (JCAPS) in May 16 and I am scratching my head with few questions. Please help.
I rented a house from June 2010 till October 2016 (all bills in my name). But save some money I moved into shared accommodation (room) in October 2016 directly from landlord (so no bills in my name). I don’t know whether she has declared that I leave at the house to the council. But, I have all my bank statements, driving license, car registration with this address.

1) Now many members have said in this forum that, for naturalisation address proof is not required. My question is that whether address proof is required for passport application as I read in online guidance* which quotes “We may check you live at the address you give. If you don't, it may delay your application unless you explain the circumstances in sect 8 of the application form"?

(*) Title of guidance document: Applying for a passport. Helping you fill in the form and get your passport photo right.

2) If at all they check, what kind of checks will they carry out?

These questions are eating me and I am thinking of renting a house again before applying for naturalisation and passport (JCAP).

Please share your views and help.
Thanks,

1. No, it is not required to send proof of address.

2. HMPO might check the electoral roll or credit agencies to verify your address. The might not check at all.
