Hello,
I am expecting to hear about my Naturalisation application sometime soon. I have just started reading about British Passport application process. I was born and brought up in India before 1983 (both parents from India). Please could you let me know what supporting documents I will need to apply for my first adult British passport?

+1 and it is pages 12 and 13 to be precise that explains the requirements.

No. Have you read the guide and what is says for naturalised citizens?

1. Original Naturalisation Certificate
2. All passports you got in hand (carry both current and previously cancelled passport)
3. Application form (fill in BIRO pen only)
4. 2 photographs

I used post office check and send service btw. My UK passport is on its way.

I have noticed some people have applied for British passport without hearing the outcome of their naturalisation application. How is that possible? Does it save time?

Councils that offer the nationality checking service (NCS) have recently launched a new joint citizenship and passport (JCAP) application scheme where you can apply for your first British passport at the same time as naturalisation.

You have to pay the passport fee (£72.50) and normally a little extra on the NCS fee (£10 or so) but once your application has been approved and you have attended the ceremony, your passport is delivered to you soon afterwards without the need for an interview etc.

It was previous trialled late last year and early this year at select councils but has now been rolled out nationally.
