Knowledge of English requirement

Hi,

I already proved (in 2014 whilst ILR application) that my degree was taught in English and it is equivalent per NARIC by supplying PBS calculator print out, original degree and university letter stating that degree was taught in English. I got the ILR in 2014 on the basis of above three documents.

Now I am applying for citizenship. I am ticking below option in AN :
"I met the knowledge of language and life requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013"

I don't think I need to supply any additional document like NARIC certification in support of above tick this time for citizenship.

NOTE - the PBS calculator is not available anymore.

Please let me know if my understanding is correct.

Regards,
Ash

Technically, yes you don't need to supply anything but there are members in the forum which were requested further documentation if they didn't submit anything.

I suggest adding these document with your application and ticking the box, "met the requirement after 2013"

Thanks Zahmed.
I will supply my degree and university letter along with my application but can't supply PBS calculator print out because PBS calculator is no more available.

Ash

Hi ,
Seems there was no clarity on english language requirement after 6th April 16. you can send an email to home office and get it clarified. I am going to raise FOI request soon to get it clarified.

Suresh

Thanks noajthan,

The below is the text from the thread you shared with:
"Q2: Which are the Exempt categories?:
You don’t need to prove your knowledge of English if you:
1. met this requirement, on or after 28th October 2013, in order to obtain settlement (ILR or PR),"

Do you know from which official UKBA document/link this extract came from ?

Ash

It's in the AN form itself, and probably the AN booklet and AN guide too. Have you read any of those?

On AN form:

"I met the knowledge of language and life requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013;"

It is no where saying that "You don’t need to prove your knowledge of English if you:
1. met this requirement, on or after 28th October 2013, in order to obtain settlement (ILR or PR),"

Or I am reading too many between the line. Please suggest I am going for NCS tomorrow only.

Ash

The link takes you to the wrong question!

The question should be - If I provided evidences to prove that I met the KoLL requirements to apply for settlement on / after 28-Oct-2013, do I need to provide documentary evidences again with the naturalisation application to prove the same thing yet again?

If you are "confirming" about something, as the form asks, doesn't it mean that "something" has already been proven .... and is not required to be proven again?????

Thanks,
I applied at NCS on 10th May. They didn't ask anything about NARIC certificate or so. They were aware of the option that 'applicant has already met the condition during settlement'.

They said if you have satisfied HO on settlement no need to prove English again but its bettter to submit original degree and university written letter with this application too.
