I believe that my mother is a British overseas citizen, because she was born a British subject in the colony of Trinidad before 1949 (and her grandfather was born in Saint Lucia in the late 1800s, if that matters).

Is she a British overseas citizen, or does she belong to another class of citizen?
If she is a British citizen of some sort, what path does that leave me for British citizenship?

Also, I was born in the US, and she is a US permanent resident.
