Hi all, firstly I'm new here so please go easy on me!

I'm currently in a long distance relationship with someone in america, we have been together for a year and a half now and are planning to move in together in the future, we are wondering if she can apply for British citizenship because her mother was born in Britain, we have looked up online about this but its very confusing.

Would this make her eligible?

Her mother was born in Britain in 1969 to British parents.
Her mother left Britain when she was young, but kept her British citizenship & has an american greencard.

thanks.

Welcome.

Sounds like you're in with a chance:

What was nationality/status of other parent?

Be patient, UKM applications take time to process. Check other posts in forum on that topic.

If your friend was born in/after 1983, then she is automatically British and may apply for a British passport.

For pre-1983 DoB, look at UKM route then.

Her mother is British otherwise than by descent because she was born in the UK in 1969 to British parents, not to foreign diplomats nor enemy agents.

I had misunderstood the dates.

In that case Vinny has already advised you (above).
