Hi all,

For the biometrics appointment, what do I need to take with me? Is there a specific type of ID required, eg,

BRP
or
Passport

etc?

Am asking ahead of time as need to send off Current Passport as ID for exchange of country of origin driving licence for a GB Licence with DVLA. 5 year deadline for said exchange is approaching.

Timescale on this is circa 4 weeks for return of docs.

If BRP or Passport can be used as biometrics ID I can relax in sending off Passport to DVLA.

Would you like my inside leg as well?

Now that my bona fides for asking have been (presumably) approved...

I have done some research and the Post Office website suggests to bring the Enrolment Notification Letter from the HO.

But, do I also need to bring a form of ID such as my existing Passport or BRP?

Letter should be sufficient.

My other half has received the letter from the Home Office asking to enrol for Biometrics.

Only states to bring the letter and the one with a barcode on it. No mention of ID required.

Yes, its just the letter that's required.

The adult's ID is only required, if the responsible adult is accompanying a child under 16 to enrol the child's biometrics.

I will make sure to have my BRP with me as this is usually accepted as ID.

Just call Post office and ask what is their requirement.

Went to the Post Office a few days ago and enrolled my biometrics with only the page of the letter with the barcode on it, nothing else.

Why do people use this forum to ask utter useless kind of questions?
And then other's jump in with all kind of suggestions and advice.

I mean, is it really difficult to carry a passport, BRP or driving license? Why not just carry them? If someone asks for them, you have them. If they are not required then you certainly won't be sent to prison for carry some ID documents. Or do you have some special kind of documents that weigh 100 kg each? Why didn't you do a phd in ID documents? Or were you having nightmares thinking about what ID might be needed?.

Come on, ask something that makes a difference. Its a forum for grown ups, who are supposed to have common sense.

As mentioned in my second post - I had a good reason to ask whether ID was required or not, and what ID would be required given I will be sending my Passport away and may not have it during the 14 day window.

I wasn't asked for ID when I did it, though I guess it makes sense as the whole point of biometric enrolment is to confirm your identity anyway
