Dear Experts

I have applied for naturalization on 04/April/2016 and have received the acknowledgement on 25/April/2016.
Biometrics completed on 29/April/2016,now waiting for approval letter.

Question is my Indian passport expires on September 2016.I know there is a waiting period of 6 months to receive the approval letter.The 6th month is October.
Should I renew my Indian passport or should wait.I have no plans to travel.
If I renew my passport what happens to my application with home office,how do I notify home office about new passport.

Please could you provide some guidance.

No need to renew if not traveling. Not sure how HMPO will process passport application, you might have to have your current passport 'cancelled' by the embassy.

Thanks for the reply,have applied for the British passport along with Nationalization.

Yet to receive the approval letter,still waiting.

Cancellation of passport in embassy can only be after I receive approval letter and British passport,is that correct ?

Just confused with what I should do.

If you applied using JCAP, then no need to renew Indian if not traveling.

The 6 months for approvals etc is a guideline, most approvals are quicker than that, some JCAPs especially.
