Countersignature signature has only 30 days validity?

I have applied for my first BP via Check&Send.
Countersignatory under S10 signed off more than a month ago and i put the application date as the date i was posting it, which was over 1 month later.
Example:
I signed the application as 1 July 2016
Countersignatory signed the photos and Section as 20 May 2016.
Lady at check&send told me the coungtersignatory had to sign off within 30 days of the application date otherwise they will return the application anyway, so he shoul shave signed off after 1 June 2016 if i dated it as 1 July.
I thought its a bit if a nonsence as it is also not a written rule in the guidance so went to apply anyway. had a second thought though after i returned form the PO and called up the passport advice line, they did confirm that the counter signature indeed should have been less than 30 days old
Is this important ommission and my passport application will be returned?
