Hello, i have sent all my identification off with my application form to become a British citizen. i would of thought all they need to do is check the documents to see if they are real and send it back to me? i did include a royal mail special delivery bag for them to send the passport/driving licence back to me? how comes i still haven't got it back yet? i do need to have some form of identification soon, and i hate not carrying any around.

is it the same for everyone? how long did it take for you to get your documents back ?

Why didn't you use the NCS, they would take copies and certify them and give you your docs straight back? It only costs a couple of quid.

i didnt think it would take this long? i sent off my application on the 22/05/16

They usually keep originals until shortly before or just after your approval letter arrives.

Thank you for the link. By asking for documents back, would it affect my application ?
To be honest i didnt think off it too much and didnt think it was going take this long for them to send back my documents.

It shouldn't affect your application if you need them back for good reason, i.e. holiday book, job interview, proof of ID for bank etc.

Thank you for your help, i am looking at the application processing time post, it seem like people have been getting their documents back 2 months after doing their Date of biometric enrolment. i need one form of ID back by the end of the month, im not sure to request them back or just wait. ive done my biometric on the 16/06/16, i dont really want to rush them by asking my documents back. not sure what to do
