Getting citizenship if you haven't paid council tax

Hi there,

so I've been living in the UK since 2010 (student from '10-'14 and from then working full time). After graduating it took me couple of months till I find a job and had some money issues so my tenant suggested to change our contract to be on the names of my flatmates so I don't have to pay council tax and save up some money. Eventually I found a job but we kept the contract this way. Recently I decided to apply for British Citizenship (in the light of the recent EU referendum) so I'm worried if the fact that I haven't paid council tax would be a problem.

Have anyone else been trough this thing or have some insight to suggest what is the best course of action cause I'm not familiar with these stuff at all?

Thank you!

If you have not been named on any council tax bill then no problem. What is your nationality?

Do you have a document certifying permanent residency?

Did anyone pay the bill?

How can you prove residency if not on the bill?
Were you on electoral roll?

Would bank statements work? I can't think of anything else.

By bill do you mean council tax? If so - no. I'm staying with 2 more people who are students so we don't pay council tax for our place. Can I use bank statements to prove residency?

The first point is about PR. Do you have settled status in UK (PR / ILR)?

Yes, CT bill. If you are working then surely you have to pay CT even if other tenants are students (?!)

Regarding proof of residency, just go through AN guidance - its quite clear and comprehensive.

But you need proof of settled status first: PR (DCPR/PRC) or ILR..
