Hi All,

I would like to understand what are implications of naturalization and registration.
My son has been born outside the UK, now the situation is that my wife is on ILR and I have UK Citizenship. Under this condition i can do either of the following:

- apply for naturalization for my son
or
- register my son for British Citizenship

Can someone guide on what is the difference between the both and which one to go for and the benefits or drawbacks of getting citizenship through either of the process.

regards

Fahim

Adults naturalise, minors register for citizenship.

Minors born outside the UK require ILR before registration and are registered under Section 3(1) of the BNA 1981.

Yes, he can apply to Register as British under section 3(1) of the nationality act.
