ILR for dependent child only

Hello,
I was granted ILR in february 2016 ( after completing 5 years on Tier 1) and so was my son who is 14 now and was born abroad. He is in UK since 2008 as my dependent and granted ILR same time as my self.
I'm not planning to become a British citizen as i have to give up my nationality to do so. But i would like my son to get his british passport as it will be so much easy when he travel abroad form school.
When can he apply to be registered as a british citizen?
