Outstanding case with hmrc

I am applying for naturalization and have an outstanding case with HMRC.
They have asked me to pay £5000 tax for 2012-2013 for which I have responded back with all the documents last month.
But the case is still open and I haven't heard anything back from HMRC yet.

Should I mention this in my application?

Thanks

From my experience , HO will definitely come to know about the penalty.

Best approach will be to fix everything with HMRC before applying for citizenship.

You can also try the middle approach of getting a letter from HMRC that your tax issues will be looked on a certain date . Attach this letter with your citizenship application.

Anyway , you can request self-assesment portal access and monitor changes in your tax details realtime.

Also call HMRC and tell them about citizenship , they will prioritize your issue.
