MN1 – British Certificate arrived with a mistake

Hello,

I wonder if someone could shed some light on my case please.

I received the British Certificate for my daughter from the Home Office that has been approved by the application form MN1.

However, her surname is incorrect on the certificate which makes her name different from the birth certificate I have provided when applying for it.

My questions are:
How long does it take for them to fix it?
Would they charge me again, how much that would be?
Would I receive any form of communication from them to acknowledge they received the certificate and are working on it?

I hope someone could clarify these questions. It is very frustrating to wait for months after paying a small fortune and have to send it back again without know what is going to happen next

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

HO may correct for free if their mistake; its happened before and other members have reported that to be the case.

Suggest search forum to get a steer on timelines; obviously there's no set timeline for something like this.
Don't expect too much in way of communications.

Hi noajthan,

thanks for your reply.

I tried to find similiar cases to mine here but they are quite old and there wasn't a clear response about it.

I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens then :(

In my case it took about 4 weeks.

In my case didn't charge anything because its their mistake. U send the certificate back to them with recorded delivery.

Would I receive any form of communication from them to acknowledge they received the certificate and are working on it?

No
