Hi, i applied for naturalisation for my 2 children under section 1(3). I received a received a response in august saying
'you requested the registration of your children on your application for registration. as they were born in UK after january 1983, they acquired an entitlement to registration as a british citizen under section 1(3) when you became settled in the UK'.
My kids were born before i received ILR. I have not received any other letter or response regarding what to do next. does it mean they have refused their application? thank you in advance

What have YOU applied for?
What is your immigration status in the UK?

Then I don't understand the purpose of the letter if you applied to REGISTER (adults are naturalised) them on form MN1 under section 1(3). Did you submit proof of your ILR??
Does the letter say anything else?

Did you submit proof of
YOUR indefinite leave to remain? UK born children DO NOT require ILR in order to register as British.
DId you apply by post yourself or through NCS at the council?
When did you apply?

hi. yes i provided proof of my ilr. i applied myself as i thought it was straightfoward. i was applying for the kids to be registered as british based on the fact that i have ilr.
i was advised i could not apply directly for a passport for them because i gained ilr after they were born hence my reason for using mn1 form. i called the ncs helpline and they agree that the letter sent by the caseworker is confusing as it does not say what the next steps are

NO!! HO has given you incorrect advice. The children ARE NOT automatically British if they were born BEFORE you got your ILR.
You still need to register them as British first on form MN1.
