Naturalisation Application - ILR granted by Isle of Man

Hi All,

Looking for advice on my case.

I was granted ILR in 2015 by Isle of Man Government and this year in July 2016, I moved to UK due to job transfer. Currently I am living and working in UK from last 5 months and plans to live and work here.

I have completed 12 months on ILR and now thinking about applying for naturalisation.
Now question is
1) where should I sent my application- to UK office or Isle of Man Governor ..?
2) Is Isle of man Stay and ILR considered in UK Naturalisation application..?

According to AN_Booklet - residence requirement, it sort of mention that Isle of Man is part of residence requirement

"The residence requirements:
1. You must have been physically present in England, Wales, Scotland,
Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands on the day 5
years before the application is received by the Home Office.
For example if your application is received on 20/1/2015 you should have
been physically present in the United Kingdom on 21/1/2010."

Has anybody applied for UK naturalisation based on ILR granted by Isle of Man or Channel Islands?

Thanks and Regards
Dav

Just looking for somebody who has gone through process of applying Naturalisation based on ILR that was granted by Channel islands or IOM.

I'll step away from the question about the validity of ILR issued by the Isle of Man Government in the UK.

For the purposes of naturalisation, the UK does include the Isle of Man (Section 50 of the British Nationality Act 1981) and so time in the Isle of Man should count as time in the UK.

But be aware that people naturalised or born as British citizens in the Isle of Man (or the Channel Islands) can not benefit from freedom of movement rights in the rest of the EU (Article 2, read with Article 6 of Protocol 3 of the UK's accession treaty with the EEC as then). Passports issued to people whose British citizenship is solely due to naturalisation or birth in the Isle of Man contain an endorsement “ holder is not entitled to benefit from European Community Provisions relating to employment or establishment.”.

I could be wrong, but whether you apply in Douglas or London, I believe that the naturalisation application would be internally redirected to the appropriate authority for naturalisation.

Stand by for comments from other people.
