Hi all,

My child was born here while I was not setteld.

I and my wife are both setteled so my question is can i apply for british nationality for her using mn1 form?

On the form it does say both parent have to be british / have ilr but i have seen numorous posts mentiong one parent is sufficient.

Second questions , if i use nationality checking service, do I still have to send original documents or no?

Finally will my child be registered or naturalised?

What is a lead time for such applications? If he is accepted, do i then have to apply for passport and wait another few weeks?

He has another nationality but born here and only 1 year old

I applied for my owns countries passport for him.

On the form it does say both parent have to be british / have ilr but i have seen numorous posts mentiong one parent is sufficient. The form is generic and used for UK born and non UK born. ILR is sufficient.

Finally will my child be registered or naturalised? Children are REGISTERED and adults are NATURALISED.

I applied for my owns countries passport for him.

Many thanks

My point re nationality was he already holds another nationality
Will that impact his application? He is not stateless

Now what I find difficult is how to get referres for him
If hr is a minor how are you meant to get a professional reference

What would he even need one

If hr is a minor how are you meant to get a professional reference Read the guidance notes. Professional referee i.e. health visitor, teacher, GP, nurse, pharmacist etc.

What would he even need one

So once he gets the certificate back then he will have to apply for passport which can take further few weeks?

I have read the guidence throughly and my child name format is different format that how it will be presented in His british passport

He has a title from my country which has to be at beginning of his name but I don't want that

The title is religious

So if we imagine his name is patrik wilson then here is how his current passport and uk birth certificate is

Uk birth certificate: patrick title wilson

Passport: title patrik wilson

I want to write a letter explaining this so they won't insist on using his current passport format as that is not what I want

Do you think this willcause an issue?

I already said the below.

The name on the certificate and the British passport will always match the foreign passport. There is nothing you can do at the point of application to change that. This is the avoid people having multiple identities.

There is no requirement for the child to have a British passport.

As said, HMPO won't issue a passport in a different name to any other uncancelled passport the child has. You will need to change their name by deed poll, then change their foreign passport, before applying for a British passport.

Writing a letter saying you want the names to be arranged differently will not cut it.
