I got ILR on 4th of Feb 2016. I plan to apply for naturalisation through JCAP/NCS. Does this mean I can apply on the 4th of Feb 2017, or do I have to wait till 5th Feb 2017?

Not applying as the spouse of a British national, no.

Making a section 6(1) application. [not married to a British national]. That is, I got ILR after five years on a Tier 2 General work permit from an employer. Does this impact the date I can apply?

So earliest possible is date of ILR + 1 year; whenever that is.
Factor in need to prove physical presence in UK 5 years before date of application too.

Thanks. Based on that, given I got ILR on 4th Feb 2016, I can apply 4th Feb 2017. Would you say my interpretation of the rules is correct?

I just want to make sure I have got it right and that ILR + 1 year doesn't mean 5th Feb 2017. I have visions of submitting the application on 4th Feb, only to get a rejection months down the line because I should have submitted it on 5th not 4th!

For goodness sake, it is ONE day. Will it impact your life so much to play it safe and apply on 5th??

You also need to check that you were physically in the UK on the exact same date in 2012 (4th or 5th or whenever you apply). If you were not in the UK on the exact same date in 2012, your application will be refused. Date of application is the date of your NCS appointment.

Appreciate you have to deal with all sorts of pointless questions but your tone was quite rude and uncalled for. If my post annoyed you, you were under no obligation to reply, were you? Simply move on.

Anyway, I meet the requirements about being physically present, five years prior. I'd just rather get the application in on the 4th if I can, as I travel with work on the 5th for a few weeks.

More exasperated than annoyed. Had you stated in your opening post that you need to travel on the 5th, my response would have been different, it's all in the detail.

Factor in your biometric enrollment too if you are traveling for 'a few weeks', there is a time limit within which to do biometrics.
