ILR to naturalisation with BC spouse

Hi all
Would love some advice, apologies as I know this question is probably covered numerous time on this forum already however I find the whole process confusing and after several dealings with UK Home Office already (nothing bad but the usual, lost passports etc) the thought of going through it all again is getting me stressed already.

The story:
I got my ILR in Aug 2016 after being a resident for 7.5 years
I am also married to a British Citizen

I have been told that because I am married to a BC I don't have to wait the usual 12 months to naturalise.

I have only just officially changed my name so was looking into changing it on my BRP but see that it costs £308 so thought it would be better getting naturalised instead (which I was planning on doing soon anyway)

1) Can anyone explain the process for naturalisation? (I have had a quick look at the gov.uk website but thought I'd ask the experts on the forum
2) Is it a problem that my BRP is in my maiden name but new Australian passport in my new married name?
3) What is the usual processing time? This is where I've struggled before, as I travel regularly, I always seem to get caught out and stress that I'll be without my passport.

I'm sure it's a straightforward case and would appreciate any advice from anyone

Thank you very much.

1) Read AN form and AN guide and AN booklet; they are quite clear and comprehensive.

2) No. Its explainable with marriage certificate.

3) 4-6 months or more.
Watch timeline thread to track other members;' experiences - your mileage may vary ofcourse.

Apply via NCS (local council) for reasonable, additional fee and keep hold of vital documents/passport.

Thanks noajthan

I have read the AN form and guide now and feeling a bit better about things.

One more question, should I apply for a new BRP in my married name at all? I see that I could face a £1000 fine if I don't change this within 3 months of my name change and if application take 4-6months then this would obviously exceed that time frame.

Thank you both for your advice, incredibly helpful.

Never knew about the NCS, looks very helpful.
