MN1 form - new version Jan 2017 | Do i have to refill?

Background: I have completed filling up MN1 form (version April 2016) for my son and am about to submit it this week. The newer version of the form is now available since 13th January 2017.

Questions:
1. Do i have to re-fill the newer version of the form? Teh reason I ask is I have got the referee signatures on the old form and it will be difficult to get the referees to do the newer form before i have an appointment
2. Do I have any period of time where i can still use an old form?

Please help

You will have to fill the new form in otherwise your application will be delayed. You can change the appointment if you are not able to get the referees to sign in time. Alternately, its not even necessary to use NCS for your child's application, you can post the application using post office check & send service which is fairly quick as well.

Add old/signed referee page to new form.

that wouldn't be a clever thing to do as all pages on the form have a footer with form name & version number. Someone could spot that. :|

It is acceptable to substitute the referee pages when a new form comes out.

I have done it in the past - hence the suggestion. (I don't just make this stuff up).
And application succeeded.

I just realized that I sent in the old form a couple of weeks ago,as well as payment amount for the old fee. Had it sitting around for a long time before I actually submitted it!
The home office have taken the amount for the old fee from my bank account, and assigned me a case ID anyway. Is this a good sign that things are moving forward as they should and that they've accepted the old application, or is it likely to come up and create problems further down the line?
