Error on Certificate of Naturalisation -Passport application

I have received my Certificate of Naturalisation a few weeks ago and I have already attended the citizenship ceremony. Annoyingly there is a mistake on my Certificate - not in my painfully long Romanian name which (surprisingly) was written with commendable correctness. My first two given names (first name and middle name) have also been added erroneously underneath the Full Name line, in the rubric 'Name at birth if different'. My name was not different at birth and I have never mentioned any such name, so this must be some sort of clerical blunder. The rubric 'Name at birth if different' should be blank.
My question is - given that this doesn't seem to be a major or important mistake - should I get this Certificate corrected (and have that made-up name removed in 'Name at birth if different')? Or could I apply for the passport now with my Certificate as it is, and worry about the Certificate accuracy later - or not at all?
I was thinking that if the British Passport does not mention any such different name at birth (nor does indeed my current Romanian passport), perhaps I should not worry about this silly misprint in the Certificate. But I may be wrong.
I would be very grateful indeed for some advice! :-)

A British passport DOES NOT mention previous or other names other than what appears on your certificate and foreign passport.

You could send it for 'correction' but it can take many weeks.

Many thanks for your prompt answer. So, do you think the passport people won't be troubled by this apparent inconsistency? I could see that there is a question about previous names in the passport application. Therefore there will be a discrepancy between what I write in the application and what appears on the Certificate.

Hi,

Not sure if you've already submitted your Passport application but I was in the same boat: they had added a "name at birth if different" line to my naturalisation certificate, which should have been blank.

I was going to just use the incorrect certificate for my Passport application, as I also thought that it's a seemingly inconsequential error, but I spoke to about 3 different people at Visas and Immigration who said: if you apply with an incorrect certificate you will not get a passport.

The way one chap described it to me was: if your 'Name' and 'Name at birth' on the certificate are different, then the first thing the Passport Office will do is look for the evidence justifying why your name changed. Which obviously neither you nor I can provide as our names never actually changed.

So they'll consider the application to be incomplete and, in theory, deny it. The other thing reiterated to me was that in submitting that (incorrect) certificate you are effectively saying that you agree that all the information is correct. Which you don't, as it's not.

What happened in the end? I hop it turned out ok for you. submitted my certificate for amendments and am hoping for a miracle.
