In doubt if eligible for BC (please help)

Hi there,

this has been a tough topic for me over the years...
I am the daughter of a British father, who was born in England in 49.
I, however, came to be overseas in Poland to a Polish mother, in 1993 (they never married).
I was raised English, still, my father did not bother with entitling me to a British passport.
I am now 23 and over the last several years have gone through enough information, to clearly understand that I am not eligible for BC.
However, today I stumbled onto some new data:

'Standard Claims
You are normally eligible for British Citizenship by Descent (and what we would term a STANDARD route to British Nationality) if you were born to a parent* (a father or mother) who was:
born in the UK before 01.01.1983; OR
Naturalized in the UK before your birth.
In such situations, the relevant parent is considered as being British Other than by Descent, and can pass British nationality to their children.'

I would like to know/ask if there is any realistic possibility of claiming now for BC, being of age and not currently residing in the UK?

Would extremely appreciate a response.

Best

I have checked the above link and it appears you are British "by descent". You don't need to apply for it. But British citizenship cannot be passed on to your children. Experts no doubt will comment further on this (as British nationality law is complex).

You are not a British citizen by descent as unmarried British fathers could not transmit their citizenship to their children born abroad before 1st July 2006.

You can however be registered as a British citizen using Form UKF. Read the guidance notes for the required proof.
