Hello all,

On Tuesday 6th June I applied through Camden's Council JCAP service for both naturalization and passport. The special delivery was received and signed for the following day.

Today Halifax flagged a number of dodgy transactions on my credit card attempted today and they have cancelled the card and a new one is being sent to me, which will obviously have different details on it.

What do I do now??? I imagine UKVI will attempt to charge the cancelled card for naturalization around now and the transaction will fail. Plus there's the charge for the passport once I get approved and go to the ceremony, how do I notify that one?

Any advice will be appreciated!

Wait till they write back to you with the error/cancel payment a and do as what they ask then like a new payment form etc. You cannot do anything now except wait for a letter from them.

So they will not just cancel the application and send everything back to me? That's a relief, I was starting to feel a bit sick, after all the effort that had gone into it.

Nothing I can do to give them new credit card details now then?

Nope! Just wait now a few days for them to write to you in the post.

Interestingly the only place where I can think someone could have stolen my credit card details, including the full name, address and 3 digit code at the back is from the AN application payment slip. Anywhere else the card is used online or through chip and PIN which should both be pretty secure (at least compared to having all the details written down in a piece of paper for UKVI!).

So this was either at Camden Council, where they took all the photocopies, or Royal Mail if the Special Delivery from the council was intercepted somehow, or UKVI when they received the forms.

Any of those 3 options is worrying. Specially the intercepted Special Delivery if it means my application never reached UKVI! Royal Mail show it delivered and with a signature, but could be anyone I guess.

Did you inform ur bank that a big transaction is about to happen in the next few days by the UKVI of xyz amount?

The application states clearly to inform ur bank before hand so that no blocks r in place. Ask ur bank EXACTLY how many transactions were requested and of WHAT amount.

The card was cancelled yesterday after 2 dodgy transactions for around £160 each on two separate websites selling beauty products and perfumes. Someone has stolen my credit card details to purchase random things on the internet, so me and Halifax decided to cancel the card.

This has nothing to do with UKVI attempting to charge the card and Halifax declining the transaction.

Someone has stolen my credit card details and the most likely option is that someone took the details from the AN form payment slip it would seem. Too much of a coincidence!

Highly unlikely it is HO or NCS, otherwise we would all have had problems.

Given the amount of cyber crime and card details being stolen in the UK it could have been anywhere.

My transaction was cancelled for another reason, but I also got worried. It turn out I shouldn't have. UKVI will send you another payslip to fill so they will attempt to get the money again. If that fail just send them email to explain the situation and sometimes they give a call to pay over the phone. I sent them email and they replied to me that in this case at the end the money went through with some delay in the system.
Believe me you are not the first one to whom that happened so they are professionals and well prepared.
I don't think they will just send you back the aplication.

I just wanted to thank everybody for their advice.

On Monday 19th I got a letter from the HO including a new payment slip for me to fill in, and the biometrics letter. Both are done now.
