Hi , could not find a topic similar to this one in the forum, just want to know if children travelled to UK with ROA COA on their foreign passport and want to apply for a British Passport once arrived in UK, do they need to:
Register here by filling MN1 form (or)
Directly apply for Passport (since they are british by Descent ) (or)
Do they have to naturalize first and then apply for a british passport.

Note: Children under 18.

Thank you for the reply, one of the parents (Father) is british citizen acquired by naturalization before the child is born , so in that case do we need an MN1 application or directly apply for passport. The child has travelled from india to UK on ROA COA and is currently living in UK.

Apply directly for passport. Child is British by descent.

It's also recommended to obtain a consular birth certificate, especially if parent is naturalised British.

I need some assistance.

I'm a British Citizen via Naturalisation and my wife is an Indian Citizen and currently in India for delivery and we are expecting our baby in September this year. After reading all the horror stories and the delay in getting a British passport for our child from India, we have decided to get an Indian passport and apply for RoA.

As someone who has recently applied for RoA successfully, please could you share your experience on how to apply, time scales etc.

very simple , check some older posts and look the documentation and covering letter needed, you will get in 4 weeks time.

Hi JAJ, i have checked with Registering child in UK , but the time scales are 3 months or even more and the documentation part is too much and they need a copy of the British passport of the child as well (think so), instead can i apply directly for child british passport (which saves time and money) as the child is already British by descent and got his ROA COA on his Indian passport. Just a final thought.
