MN1 Application Query

Hi There,

I recently got my ILR (Tier 1 General 5Y route). My son (UK Born, 2 years old) is currently holding an Indian Passport and a Tier 1 Dependent visa which runs out this September 2017.

I need to get him registered as a British Citizen and get a British Passport issued.

From this forum i understand i need to fill the MN1 form for this case. I have some queries related to the process of submitting the application and i will really appreciate if someone can help me with it.

1) Is this a two stage process... Get a registration done first and then apply for the passport OR can this be done together?
2) At the NCS, will they keep the original passport of the child and/or parent as part of the application OR do they scan and return the original document?
3) Is there any time limit to return the BRP card post getting the registration certificate?

If you apply by post, it is a two stage process. Registration first and once you get the certificate apply for passport. OR you can apply for both through NCS at the council.
2) At the NCS, will they keep the original passport of the child and/or parent as part of the application OR do they scan and return the original document?
You get all the original back. They send photocopies to HO.
3) Is there any time limit to return the BRP card post getting the registration certificate?
No, not for UK born children without ILR.

Thanks.
Based on the timelines that i have seen on this site, I assume it take around 1.5 to 3 months for this process to get completed. So if i put the MN1 application for my son in July end via NCS and go out of UK during the school vacation and return by end of August, it should be Ok .... rite? Is there any risk with this approach?
