Need help penalty points

Hi I need help for my British citizenship. I have three points on my licence for speeding in 2012. I did not went to court for them. I applied PR in 2016 and I did not mention them and which was approved. Now I applied for British citizenship last month and I did not mention these points but someone told me I have to mention them otherwise home office will refuse my application . I want to know what I can do know shall I withdraw my application or write them a letter and explain the situation. Thank you
